Bringing on a new leader is always a risky prospect and proves to be quite challenging. The odds for failure increase when leaders are hired from outside the company. The costs for failures are increasingly higher for shareholders. The good news is that there are proven tools and techniques to help new leaders succeed. Important goals of a new leader include quickly establishing their agenda and creating alignment, and ensuring the right team is in place to execute their new direction.
Over the weekend I had the pleasure of reading a brand new book: Appreciative Leadership. This is a different way to lead using proven techniques that bring the best out in everyone. Appreciative Leadership is so simple, yet powerful for unleashing organizational potential, leading to superior performance, which drives increased business results. I especially am drawn to the concepts of:
- Analysis of root cause success … daily acts of excellence,
- The formula for Principled Performance, and
- The Key Ingredients for Organizational Success.
